Session Studio Unveils Werewolf: Rageborn for PS5
Crea-ture Studios announced Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Rageborn for PS5, a top-down action game due in 2027 where players switch freely between Homid, Lupus and Crinos forms.
Crea-ture Studios, the developer of skateboarding title Session, announced Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Rageborn for PlayStation 5. The top-down action game is due in 2027 and centers on on-demand shapeshifting between three forms.
Players will alternate among Homid, Lupus and Crinos forms, each with distinct abilities and roles. The Homid is a human form optimized for ranged combat and mobility, able to use firearms, crossbows and a kyoketsu shoge for movement. The Lupus is a wolf form focused on speed, stealth and silent takedowns, suited to exploration and platforming. The Crinos is a hulking war form built for close-quarters combat, using Rage-fueled combos to break obstacles and access new areas.
The studio described a gameplay loop that requires switching forms to meet specific challenges. Promotional material notes the Homid is suited for engaging ranged enemies such as drones, while the Lupus is preferred for traversal and stealth approaches. Players will need to switch forms to progress through environments and encounters.
The story follows Taylor, a student whose life changes after his eco-activist friend is shot. The press release states: “What can two students do in the face of the apocalypse? When his eco-activist friend is gunned down before his eyes, Taylor’s true nature is revealed in a tsunami of blood. He becomes a monster, a werewolf – a champion of the Earth. Thus begins a quest for vengeance and identity across the wild expanses of Alaska.”
Crea-ture Studios has released early footage that shows top-down gameplay and transitions between forms. The developer has not provided a precise launch date beyond the 2027 window and listed PlayStation 5 as the planned platform. Technical specifications and broader platform plans remain unconfirmed.
The project departs from the studio’s previous work on Session and builds combat and traversal systems around the three-player archetypes. The game draws on elements of the tabletop property Werewolf: The Apocalypse while implementing its own mechanics for combat, exploration and form switching.
