SFB Games’ The Mermaid’s Mask arrives on Switch July 16

The Mermaid’s Mask, sequel to Tangle Tower, launches on Nintendo Switch on July 16; players return as Grimoire and Sally to investigate a locked-room murder on a submarine.

SFB Games announced The Mermaid’s Mask, the sequel to 2019’s Tangle Tower, will arrive on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 on July 16. The game returns players to characters Grimoire and Sally as they investigate a locked-room murder aboard a hand-crafted submarine where the captain has been found dead.

The studio revealed the title during the SGF Story Rich Showcase and published new screenshots and feature details. The Mermaid’s Mask keeps a point-and-click structure but shifts many clue objects into fully 3D form while retaining the series’ hand-drawn character art.

Gameplay involves searching the submarine for evidence, interrogating fully voice-acted suspects and combining motive, means and opportunity to identify the culprit. SFB Games says the game emphasizes investigation and deduction and that puzzles are designed to reward observation and logic rather than trial-and-error.

The developer describes the environments as layered and filled with secrets and highlights full voice acting and hand-crafted sets as core elements. Puzzles are presented as progressive challenges meant to produce clear problem-solving moments.

SFB Games is the studio behind Tangle Tower, Snipperclips and Crow Country. A 2019 review described Tangle Tower as “an exemplary addition to the point-and-click genre.”

The Mermaid’s Mask will be available exclusively through the Nintendo eShop on July 16 for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.
