Silent Hill: Townfall launches today on PS5 Store

Silent Hill: Townfall, developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and co-published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive, launched today on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 5. The standard edition is listed at $49.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $59.99. The game runs on PS5 and offers enhanced visual features on PS5 Pro.

The title is set on the fog-covered island of St. Amelia in 1996. The publisher’s official description reads, ‘Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right,’ encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest.’ Players take the role of Simon, who wakes on the island with an IV bag and a medical wristband bearing his name.

Townfall is presented entirely in first-person perspective, unlike earlier Silent Hill games. Gameplay combines exploration, combat and resource management. Players scavenge for supplies, balance melee and ranged attacks, and conserve limited ammunition and other items.

Simon carries a pocket television device called the CRTV that provides audio and visual cues; the series’ traditional radio does not appear. Melee weapons can be used to block enemy strikes and open opportunities for counterattacks. Environments contain clues and tools that advance the narrative as players move through the island.

Konami and Annapurna are listed as co-publishers and Sony’s PlayStation Store handles digital distribution for PS5. Silent Hill: Townfall is available to download now on the PlayStation Store.
