Silver Pines launches on PS5 with 10% discount
Wych Elm’s survival-horror game Silver Pines is available on PS5 and other platforms, with the standard edition discounted by 10% at launch.
Swedish developer Wych Elm has released Silver Pines on the PlayStation Store for PS5 after four years of development. The standard edition is available at a 10% discount across all supported platforms.
The survival-horror game follows Red Walker, a private investigator who travels to the town of Silver Pines to search for missing musician Eddie Velvet. Players investigate the town, manage resources, solve puzzles and face threats.
Silver Pines uses level-design features associated with Metroidvania games. Players can explore different areas, find hidden paths and return to earlier locations after gaining new information or access.
The game has a cinematic 2.5D perspective and a limited color palette. Wych Elm drew inspiration from 1990s films and television programs, including 8MM, The X-Files, Twin Peaks and Jacob’s Ladder.
Silver Pines is available on Steam, where it is verified for Steam Deck, the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X and S, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The five-person team includes Wych Elm co-founder Linus Larsson, co-founder and artist-animator Mattias Snyg, and composer and sound designer Karl Flodin. Team members have worked on games including The Darkness and Helldivers.
Larsson identified 8MM, The X-Files, Twin Peaks and Jacob’s Ladder as influences on the project, describing the team’s interests as “very inspired by ’90s cinema and TV shows.”
Snyg described Wych Elm’s decision-making structure as one without a single company leader. “Everyone has a say on any topic, and most of the time we reach some form of consensus, or at least a majority view that settles the question,” he said.
