Sony $349 1440p PS5 Monitor With Built-In DualSense Dock

Sony will sell a $349.99 1440p IPS PS5 monitor with a built-in stowable DualSense charging dock. Pre-orders open June 5 at 10 a.m. ET in the US and Japan; ships Aug. 27.

Sony announced a $349.99 1440p IPS monitor designed for PlayStation 5 and PCs. Pre-orders begin June 5 at 10 a.m. ET through PS Direct in the United States and Japan. Units are scheduled to ship on Aug. 27 and initial supplies will be limited.

The monitor includes a built-in DualSense charging dock that can be hidden inside the housing when not in use. Sony cited more players taking games out of the living room and smaller living spaces as the inspiration for the integrated dock.

The panel supports variable refresh rate (VRR), HDR and up to 120Hz when connected to a PS5. When attached to a PC the monitor can reach up to 240Hz.

Sony positioned the product for both console and PC players and highlighted PS5-specific features in its product information. The company plans to pair the monitor with its Pulse Elevate speakers, which are due later this year; a global release schedule for the speakers was not provided.

Initial sales are limited to the United States and Japan. Sony did not provide details on availability in other regions.

Manufacturers have increased focus on 1440p panels as a midpoint between 1080p and 4K, offering higher refresh rates while remaining less expensive than many 4K displays.
