Sony Blocks PS5 Version of Stonks-9800

Sony blocked the PS5 release of Stonks-9800 and removed Ternox Games’ catalog from the PlayStation Store after an automated shovelware filter flagged the studio.

Sony has blocked the PlayStation 5 release of Stonks-9800 and removed Ternox Games’ titles from the PlayStation Store, the developer says. The PlayStation release was scheduled for 2027; versions for Xbox and Nintendo are still planned.

Ternox Games, an independent studio whose Stonks-9800 launched on PC in 2023 with an “overwhelmingly positive” user rating, reports it was caught by an automated filter during a wider PlayStation Store sweep earlier this year.

The developer says Sony terminated its PlayStation contract and delisted the studio’s catalog. Ternox reports that email appeals to PlayStation Support received no response and that its attempts to explain the situation went unanswered.

On social media Ternox wrote: “PlayStation Support refuses to listen to my arguments or even respond to my emails in any way.” The developer also noted the studio’s output, writing: “I’ve released 10 games in 5 years of work (another 3 of my own games were transferred to my account by other publishers I’ve worked with in the past – a total of 13 games on my account since 2021).”

Sony carried out a large-scale removal of low-effort titles earlier this year, terminating agreements with developers identified as producing shovelware and removing listings from the PlayStation Store. Ternox says it was wrongly identified by that process.

Ternox confirmed the Xbox and Nintendo ports will continue. The studio has publicized the delisting on social channels while seeking a response from PlayStation Support. Sony has not issued a public statement about the specific delisting or the developer’s appeal.
