Sony files revised DualSense Edge controller for 2027

Sony is expected to release a revised DualSense Edge controller, model CFI-ZCP2, after a regulatory filing on the Federal Communications Commission website listed the product and which indicates a user manual and photos will be posted in January 2027.

The filing uses a model number one digit higher than the current DualSense Edge (CFI-ZCP1). Observers noted the change in model number as a signal that Sony plans an updated version. The FCC entry does not include a full specification sheet or an official product announcement.

The reference to documentation and images arriving in January 2027 points to a launch in the first quarter of 2027. The posting on the U.S. regulator’s site indicates Sony intends to market the revised controller in the United States. Sony has not released pricing or details on global availability.

The FCC documents do not list hardware changes or new features. Some players have expressed hopes for longer battery life and higher-quality rubber on grips and sticks, but those expectations are unconfirmed.

The DualSense Edge is Sony’s premium PlayStation 5 controller and first launched in 2023. The controller offers changeable stick caps, personalized controller profiles, replaceable stick modules, mappable back buttons and adjustable trigger lengths. The current model is sold in black and white and carries a $199 price.

Sony describes the controller as “built with high performance and personalization in mind,” adding that it allows players to “craft your own unique gaming experience so you can play your way.” The user manual and product images listed in the filing are expected to provide the first official look at any physical revisions and fuller technical details.
