Sony adds GTA VI Welcome Hub animation to PS5
Sony rolled out a server-side PS5 update adding a GTA VI Welcome Hub animation that automatically plays when users boot and sign into the console.
Sony rolled out a server-side PS5 update that adds a GTA VI Welcome Hub animation. The animated overlay starts automatically after a user boots the console and signs into their PlayStation account. The update appeared as GTA VI preorders went live in multiple regions.
Because the change is server-side, users cannot download or install it manually. The overlay is applied automatically when Sony enables it in a given region.
Sony has not previously delivered a game-specific Welcome Hub overlay for the PS5 during this console generation. Sony’s first-party titles have not received automatic home-screen greetings of this type.
PlayStation Store pages display GTA VI branding in regions where preorders are active. The PlayStation mobile app icon has also been updated with GTA VI imagery on Android and iOS where the app update is available.
Availability of the console overlay is staggered by region. Players who do not see the animation should expect it to appear automatically once the server-side change reaches their territory.
Some players have speculated that Rockstar Games may release additional promotional material, including a new trailer. Neither Sony nor Rockstar has issued public comment on the Welcome Hub update or on any immediate marketing schedule tied to GTA VI.
The update coincided with the global launch of GTA VI preorders.
