Sony: No PS5 Console Discounts During Days of Play

Sony confirmed it will not discount PS5 consoles during the mid-year Days of Play promotion. The company listed the PS5 Digital Edition at $599.99 and the PS5 Pro at $899.99 following price adjustments in April.

Sony said the Days of Play event will include discounts on the PSVR2 headset and DualSense controllers, but it will not include price cuts for PS5 consoles or the PS Portal handheld.

During last year’s Days of Play the PS5 Digital Edition sold for $399.99; the current $599.99 price represents an increase of $200. The PS5 Pro saw a temporary drop to $649.99 during the prior promotion and is now listed at $899.99.

European and U.K. retail listings also rose: the Digital Edition is priced at £519.99/€599.99 versus £339.99/€399.99 last year. The PS5 Pro is listed at £789.99/€899.99, compared with £649.99/€749.99 during the previous sale.

Sony attributed the April price adjustments to higher tariffs and rising component costs, and said those factors have pushed official retail prices for PS5 platforms to their highest levels in the product line’s lifecycle.

Days of Play will run across the PlayStation Store and participating retailers during the usual mid-year window. Sony did not announce any console bundles, time-limited trade-in programs, or retailer-specific price cuts tied to the promotion.

The company’s announcement narrows the Days of Play discounts to accessories and the PSVR2 headset while maintaining current PS5 retail prices.
