Sony: Partial PlayStation Network outage after library glitch

Sony confirmed a partial PlayStation Network outage after users reported explicit games appearing in their libraries and Recently Played lists.

Sony confirmed a partial outage of PlayStation Network on June 16, 2026, after users reported that explicit, adult-oriented games appeared in their digital libraries and Recently Played lists. Engineers are investigating a disruption to gaming and social features on PlayStation platforms.

The problem began the evening of June 16, when players shared screenshots showing unfamiliar titles in their libraries and Recently Played entries, sometimes with hundreds or thousands of hours logged. Multiple reports named Sex Store or Sex Shop Simulator and Hentai Princess; other titles reported include Avatar Island, Horror Night with Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Quiz Thiz Germany.

After reports spread, Sony removed public access to Recently Played lists while it investigated. The PlayStation Status page lists a disruption to ‘Gaming and social’ services and warns users they ‘might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features.’ The status page added: “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Players reported multiplayer and other online services appeared unaffected, and there were no widespread reports of account theft or financial fraud linked to the incident. The main visible effect for many users was unfamiliar content appearing in storefront, library and Recently Played views and the temporary inability to view those lists.

Sony has not provided a technical explanation for how the titles were added to accounts or a timetable for restoring full service. The company did not indicate whether the issue originated in the PlayStation Store backend, a data-sync error or another cause.

PlayStation Network hosts digital storefronts, game libraries, social features and multiplayer services for tens of millions of users. Temporary service disruptions have occurred previously for maintenance, software bugs and traffic spikes.
