Sony Restores PS5 Recently Played After Monthlong Outage

Sony has restored the PlayStation 5 Recently Played feature after a month-long outage that removed recent gameplay entries for many accounts. The feature’s entries returned on both the PS App and the PS5 Welcome Hub, and several users report playtime and title information now match their profiles.

The issue began around June 15, when some users saw explicit titles appear in their libraries and Recently Played lists that they had not purchased. Sony disabled the Recently Played feature while it investigated the problem.

When the feature was re-enabled, gameplay data from roughly the previous two months was missing for many accounts. Since this morning, users have posted that their missing statistics have been restored in the PS App and that the Recently Played widget on the PS5 is again showing recent activity.

Sony has not published technical details about the PS Store glitch or the steps taken to restore users’ data. Some users criticized the company for providing limited status updates during the outage.

One user posted, “I noticed this morning that on the PS App, all my missing stats have now been restored and are accurate.” Another comment read, “All’s well that ends well, but it shouldn’t take this long for Sony to fix network issues, especially as the company pursues a digital-only future.”

The Recently Played feature tracks recent game sessions and helps users resume play and organize libraries. The June glitch that added unaffiliated titles and the subsequent data loss affected account history displayed to users. Players are checking their consoles and apps to confirm their own records have been fully recovered.
