Sony staggers PS Plus Extra rollouts in US, UK and Japan

Sony will stagger PS Plus Extra updates in the US, UK and Japan: Sonic X Shadow Generations lands June 10–11, Final Fantasy XVI and Gitaroo Man on June 16 globally, with more titles on June 23 and 30.

Sony is testing a staggered schedule for PS Plus Extra game additions in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan. Sonic X Shadow Generations will be available in the US and UK on June 10 and in Japan on June 11. The global Game Catalogue update remains scheduled for June 16, when Final Fantasy XVI and Gitaroo Man will be added worldwide.

In the three selected territories, two more waves follow the June 16 global update. On June 23, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure will be added in the US, UK and Japan. On June 30, Farming Simulator 25, Blades of Fire and Black Desert will arrive in those same markets. Subscribers outside those three territories will receive the full Game Catalogue update on June 16.

Sony described the schedule as an effort to “explore new ways” of delivering PS Plus Extra additions in its largest territories. The company did not provide a detailed explanation of the criteria it will use to evaluate the test, whether the approach will expand to other regions, or how it will affect subscriber notifications and in-app listings.

PS Plus Extra is the mid-tier subscription that grants access to a rotating library of PS4 and PS5 titles. The Game Catalogue refresh in June includes a mix of single-player and multiplayer releases, with Final Fantasy XVI among the high-profile entries.
