Sony tests Community Activity widget on PS5 Welcome Hub

Sony added a Community Activity widget to the PS5 Welcome Hub in a May 2026 beta, showing regional Top 10 and Trending Now game lists to selected participants.
Sony added a Community Activity widget to the PS5 Welcome Hub in a limited beta released in May 2026 for a subset of PlayStation users.
The widget appears on PS5 consoles enrolled in the beta and shows which games are being played most in the user’s region. Participants can select ‘Top 10’ to view the week’s most-played titles or ‘Trending Now’ to see games and specific modes that are surging in popularity at the moment.
The Trending Now feed can list both full games and individual modes, so a spike in interest for a newly launched mode in titles such as Fortnite or Call of Duty will appear alongside standalone games.
Access to the widget requires enrollment in the May 2026 beta build. Sony has not announced a wider rollout timetable or provided an official feature page explaining filtering options or how regional data is determined.
PlayStation YouTuber MysticRyan posted a video demonstrating the Welcome Hub’s Community Activity widget and noted the feature displays regional popularity metrics. Some beta participants compared the widget to PS4 social tools and reported it does not provide the same visibility into what friends are doing.
On PS4, Communities allowed users to join groups and see posts and activity from members. The PS5 Community Activity widget surfaces region-wide trends rather than community posts or friend-specific updates.
Sony has not indicated whether it will expand the beta, add friend-focused options, or keep the widget focused on regional lists.
