Sony’s State of Play Set for June 2, Ahead of Xbox Showcase

Sony confirmed it will hold a State of Play livestream on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The event is scheduled five days before Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 7, 2026, placing both companies’ summer presentations in the same week.

Sony has not released a run time or a full lineup for the State of Play. The company has described State of Play presentations as platforms for updates and trailers for upcoming PlayStation releases. Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, announced earlier, will include a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct segment.

Several third-party publishers commonly appear at both PlayStation and Xbox events, creating overlap in audience interest. Recent PlayStation showcases have emphasized single-player, PlayStation 5-focused projects; Sony has also presented updates for ongoing live-service titles in past events.

Industry watchers have referenced specific projects such as Fairgames and possible updates from Bungie and Arrowhead as titles to monitor, though Sony has not confirmed any of those appearances.

Nintendo has not announced a Direct in the early June window. A separate Nintendo presentation, if scheduled near these dates, would add more publisher showcases to the same week.

State of Play presentations typically mix trailers, release dates and occasional deep dives into individual games. Xbox Games Showcases generally organize segments by franchise or theme and include partner and third-party content. Publishers use summer showcases to reveal launch windows and gameplay footage for titles planned later in the year and beyond.
