Space Marine 2 hits 12M players; Saber confirms Year 3

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 reached 12 million players and Saber Interactive confirmed a third year of free updates; postponed Year 2 content will carry over.

Saber Interactive reported that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has reached 12 million players since its PS5 launch in September 2024. The figure refers to players and is not a direct measure of sales.

The developer updated the Year 2 roadmap and confirmed a third year of post-launch support. The studio wrote: “Lately, our updates have been very well received by the community, which really motivates us to keep up the momentum for the third year. Everything that didn’t make it into the updated Year 2 roadmap will now roll over into Year 3… Don’t worry, all content that has been postponed will remain free, as it was planned for Year 2.” The studio added that more information about Year 3 will arrive “very soon.”

Saber outlined planned changes to gameplay in an upcoming patch. Siege Mode, the wave-based cooperative mission set, will be overhauled to improve progression and introduce more gameplay variety. The same patch will add a practice arena where players can try different weapons and face custom opponents outside live matches.

Since launch, the game has received a series of major free updates alongside paid cosmetic downloadable content tied to PvE and PvP. Scheduled changes to Siege Mode and the new practice arena are expected to roll out in upcoming patches, and the developer has signaled further announcements on Year 3 content in the near term.
