Square Enix to Prioritize Switch 2 in Multi-Platform Push
Square Enix will expand multi-platform releases and prioritize support for Nintendo Switch 2, CEO Takashi Kiryu announced after the company’s latest financial results.
Square Enix plans to expand its strategy to release games across multiple consoles and PC, with particular focus on the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement followed the publisher’s latest financial briefing and aligns with plans to bring major titles to the platform.
The company is preparing ports of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XIV Online for the Switch 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled to arrive on the system next month, and Square Enix has indicated a later release for the third game in the Remake series. The publisher previously released Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the new hardware.
At the financial briefing, CEO Takashi Kiryu stated, “We will polish promising IPs so that we can deliver certain upside from those new IPs. On top of that, we’d like to further promote the multi-platform strategy especially [on] the Nintendo Switch 2.”
Nintendo’s Switch 2 is approaching its first year on the market and has sold nearly 20 million units worldwide. The company added it will continue investing in adapting titles to the console’s hybrid hardware.
Square Enix did not provide specific sales forecasts tied to Switch 2 support but indicated continued investment in cross-platform development and polished releases across its major series.
