Square Enix removes Kingdom Hearts cloud versions from Switch

Square Enix stopped sales of Kingdom Hearts cloud versions on Switch on June 9, 2026; the cloud service runs until June 9, 2027 and discounted digital upgrades to Switch and Switch 2 are available.

Square Enix removed the cloud versions of multiple Kingdom Hearts titles from sale on the Nintendo Switch on June 9, 2026, and noted the cloud service will remain available until June 9, 2027. Pre-orders for native digital releases on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 opened the same day, and the full digital versions are scheduled to launch on October 8, 2026.

The company posted a notice on its support page noting the cloud editions were discontinued from sale at 14:59 (UTC) on June 9, 2026, and will stop working at 14:59 (UTC) on June 9, 2027. The notice included an apology: “We sincerely apologize to our valued customers for this sudden announcement.”

The titles affected are KINGDOM HEARTS – HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX (Cloud Version), KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (Cloud Version), KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) (Cloud Version), and KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud. Customers who own any listed cloud version can purchase the matching digital release for Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 at a discounted price on the Nintendo eShop.

Save data can be transferred from the cloud versions to the Nintendo Switch 2 digital releases. Discount eligibility is limited to the digital version that corresponds to the specific cloud title owned; the physical edition of KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is not eligible for the discount. Owners of KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud are eligible for discounts on all digital versions.

The notice formalizes a shift away from streamed cloud editions on the Switch platform toward native digital ports for the newer console generation. The company advised players to continue using cloud versions until the service end date and to check the Nintendo eShop for full details on pre-orders and upgrade pricing.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise includes multiple remasters and numbered entries. Square Enix has confirmed Kingdom Hearts 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
