Star Fox demo shows Meteo stage visuals and new controls
Nintendo released a free Star Fox demo during its Nintendo Direct that includes the prologue, tutorial and the Meteo stage, with remastered visuals and updated Joy-Con haptics and pointer controls.
Nintendo released a free Star Fox demo during its Nintendo Direct broadcast. The demo is available on Nintendo Switch and includes the prologue cutscene, a basic tutorial and the Meteo stage from the Nintendo 64 original.
Players who download the demo can play the Meteo encounter in full and take the stage’s alternative exit through a wormhole. The full run takes roughly 30 minutes when the alternate route is explored.
Visual changes in the remake include higher-resolution textures, more detailed ship and environmental models, and updated lighting. The stage’s layout and enemy placement match the original while surface detail and environmental effects have been updated.
Control options have been expanded. The game supports refined haptic feedback on Joy-Con controllers and offers a mouse-style pointing option for aiming. A hands-on writer called the haptics notable and wrote that the optional pointer controls made aiming more accessible in some sections.
Nintendo made the demo available during the Direct to provide players a playable sample of the remaster’s presentation and handling.
