Star Fox reimagining for Switch 2; console price rises

Nintendo will release a reimagining of Star Fox 64 for Switch 2 in June with AR avatar filters and online dogfights; the company raised Switch 2 pricing as sales approach 20 million.

Nintendo said it will release a reimagining of Star Fox 64 for the Switch 2 in June. The updated title will include augmented-reality avatar filters, redesigned character art and online multiplayer dogfight modes. The company described the game as a modern reimagining of the 1997 original.

In its quarterly financial report, Nintendo confirmed a global price increase for the Switch 2. The company reported cumulative Switch 2 hardware sales just under 20 million units at the time of the update. Nintendo also disclosed that recent software sales during the quarter included titles such as Pokémon Pokopia, FireRed & LeafGreen and Tomodachi Life.

Capcom provided additional publishing updates the same week. Pragmata surpassed two million copies sold, Resident Evil Requiem received a free minigame added post-launch, and Capcom announced a release date for Mina the Hollower.

Recent review coverage across multiple releases named R-Type DX: Music Encore, TetherGeist, Outbound and Mixtape among notable new titles. Reviewers highlighted Mixtape for its design and soundtrack in particular.

Staff at the publication shared their weekend gaming plans. Reported choices included Tomodachi Life, inKONBINI, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Pentiment, Pragmata, Blasphemous II, Slay the Spire 2 and Breath of the Wild. Several contributors said they planned to replay Star Fox 64 ahead of the Switch 2 reimagining.
