Star Fox for Switch 2: 4v4 Dogfights, GameShare, Co-op

Nintendo revealed 4v4 online dogfights in the new Star Fox for Switch 2, pitting Team Star Fox against Team Star Wolf and adding GameShare local play and Joy-Con co-op.

Nintendo revealed the multiplayer mode for the new Star Fox during its Star Fox Direct. The mode supports up to eight players online in 4v4 matches, with four players on Team Star Fox and four on Team Star Wolf. Private matches are available for custom lobbies.

Matches take place across three stages with specific objectives. On Corneria teams compete to control a designated zone. On Fichina players collect energy crystals. On Sector Y squads retrieve cargo taken by space pirates.

GameShare can bring up to four players into a local or online session and allows original Switch consoles to join local play with Switch 2 systems. The feature lets players in the same room join matches without each person needing their own console.

Online play requires a Nintendo Account and an active Switch Online membership.

Cooperative options are included in the single-player campaign and in challenge mode. In those modes one player uses a single Joy-Con as the pilot while a second player uses the other Joy-Con as the gunner, sharing control of a single craft and its weapons.

Nintendo did not provide a release date for the game, nor did it share details on ranked play, progression systems or cross-platform play.
