State of Decay 3: Gameplay, Alpha Tests and 2027 Window
State of Decay 3 debuted at the Xbox Games Showcase with a gameplay trailer. Alpha playtests are active and the studio is targeting a 2027 release window.
State of Decay 3 appeared during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 with an extended gameplay trailer and new screenshots. The title previously surfaced in April to announce the start of its alpha testing.
Developers say the current alpha playtest is active and access will expand over time. The plan is to move from additional alpha slots into wider beta tests ahead of launch. Players can join a waitlist through the State of Decay 3 Playtest website; initial waves of testing will be limited.
In a statement, the developers wrote, “We’ve been working on this for a while and we’re aiming for a 2027 release. Players are already playing an Alpha version of the game and are having a blast. We’re going to be expanding our Alpha and then Beta list over time. The first wave of playtests will be limited, but we plan on sharing insights and feedback with everyone as we go, and there will be more opportunities throughout the year.”
The studio did not provide a specific release date beyond the 2027 window. The gameplay footage highlights survival systems and player-driven choices. Developers indicated feedback from the alpha and beta phases will shape final adjustments and the launch schedule.
