Steins;Gate Re:Boot launches Aug. 20 for PS5, PS4
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT launches Aug. 20 in Japan for PS5 and PS4 with refreshed artwork, updated user interface, English subtitles at launch and new scenarios.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a remake from developer MAGES, will launch in Japan on Aug. 20 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. English-language subtitles will be available at launch. No Western release date has been announced.
MAGES describes the release as a reboot of the original STEINS;GATE, rebuilt with new art assets and an overhauled user interface. The company says the package includes newly written scenarios that expand the game’s narrative and optimized systems intended to make the title more accessible to both new players and returning fans.
The publisher wrote that Akihabara has been recreated with “stunning realism and depth,” and that characters, artwork and the user interface have been “completely refreshed” for this edition.
The original STEINS;GATE debuted on Xbox 360 in 2009 and has since been ported to PSP, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. A later re-release added scenes from the anime for PlayStation platforms. RE:BOOT is presented as a full remake with visual updates and new scenarios rather than a remaster.
A recent gameplay trailer highlights the updated art style and interface redesign, showing remodeled static and animated scenes. As a visual novel, the game emphasizes reading and player choices that determine branching storylines.
MAGES has not disclosed pricing, edition variations, or plans for physical releases and pre-orders outside Japan.
