Street Fighter 6 tops 7M sales; Tifa joins Year 4

Capcom reports Street Fighter 6 has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide and will receive a Year 4 expansion that adds Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa as a playable fighter.

Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 has exceeded 7 million copies sold worldwide and confirmed a Year 4 expansion that will add Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII as a playable character.

Capcom’s announcement included the message: “An achievement all thanks to you. We’re eternally grateful that Street Fighter 6 has now sold over 7 million copies worldwide!”

Street Fighter 6 originally launched in 2023. A port for the Switch 2 arrived on June 5, 2025, timed with that console’s launch.

The 7 million sales figure places Street Fighter 6 ahead of the original Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, which sold about 6.30 million copies in its initial SNES release, and short of Street Fighter V’s roughly 7.90 million units. Capcom has not provided a specific sales forecast for future milestones.

Players have reported technical issues on some platforms, including dropped frame rates in World Tour mode and visual differences on the Switch 2 port that some users consider less polished than versions on other systems.

The Year 4 expansion will follow previous seasonal updates that added new characters, balance changes and modes since the game’s launch. Capcom continues to release content updates under its ongoing support plan.

A feature film adaptation of Street Fighter is scheduled to open in cinemas on October 16, 2026, keeping the franchise active across games and film.
