Sucker Punch Ends Updates for Legends Co-op Mode
Sucker Punch says the March Raid finishes the Yotei Six story in Ghost of Yotei’s free Legends co-op mode; no further major updates are planned and the mode stays playable online.
Sucker Punch will not add more content to the free Legends co-op mode in Ghost of Yotei. The studio says the March Raid update completes the Yotei Six story and the mode will remain online and fully playable.
The Seattle studio confirmed the decision in an official blog post. Lead Designer Darren Bridges wrote, “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yotei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great.” Legends launched on March 10; the announcement came about two months after release.
Some players posted critical responses online, saying they expected ongoing additions. One user wrote, “This is really disappointing. We waited so long for new Legends and after a short time, it becomes repetitive. Really poor move to not add more survival maps or 120 gear.” Another posted, “I’m not buying the game, then. How the heck do you end support after only two months? Unbelievable.”
Sucker Punch described Legends as a free companion to the single-player campaign. The Raid, released in March, expanded the mode’s endgame and delivered the final story beats for the Yotei Six. The studio said it will keep the mode online as released but does not plan further major content updates.
The announcement prompted discussion among players about how long studios should add content to free or supplementary multiplayer modes. The studio indicated that completing planned story content will allow the team to reallocate resources to future projects.
