Super Mario Galaxy Movie: VOD May 19, 4K/Blu-ray June 16

Universal will release The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on digital storefronts in the U.S. on May 19, 2026, and will issue 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions on June 16, 2026. The sequel from Nintendo and Illumination opened in cinemas on April 1 in most territories.

The home releases include more than an hour of previously unseen footage, behind-the-scenes interviews and multiple featurettes. Universal listed a making-of documentary titled Next Level: Making The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a Cast of Characters piece examining the principal roles-Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Toad and Yoshi-and an Exploring the Galaxy feature that visits the film’s key locations.

Additional supplements focus on relationships in a segment called Galactic Thematics, composer Brian Tyler’s process reworking classic Mario themes in Cosmic Tunes, a feature on the film’s power-ups, and a Secrets of the Galaxy piece that points out hidden Easter eggs.

Universal said the digital package will be available across storefronts beginning May 19, and physical discs will arrive June 16. Purchases at participating retailers will include exclusive bonus content.

At the global box office the film is approaching $1 billion in receipts, though projections indicate it will finish below the total reached by the franchise’s previous entry. The film continues Illumination’s collaboration with Nintendo to expand the Super Mario Bros. brand on screen.
