Switch 2 users can watch YouTube via Super Animal Royale

Switch 2 owners can open YouTube in Super Animal Royale’s in-game browser, but video quality is limited to 360p, reloads are often required and signing in is not possible.

Owners of Nintendo’s Switch 2 can access YouTube through the free-to-play game Super Animal Royale’s in-game browser, a method shared this week on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit.

From the game’s main menu, a news block at the top right contains a playback icon that opens a separate browser window. Scrolling down that news page reveals a link to watch the game news on YouTube; selecting that link opens YouTube inside the game’s browser.

The experience is limited. Playback is capped at 360p. Users report needing multiple reloads to get past cookie and consent dialogs before videos will load. The browser does not support signing in to a Google account, which prevents access to subscriptions, playlists and personalized recommendations.

A Reddit post included step-by-step instructions for reaching YouTube through the game, and several community members confirmed the method and its limitations.

Switch 1 formerly offered an official YouTube app. Switch 2 has not had an official YouTube app for nearly a year, and until an official app is released users are relying on in-game browsers or other devices to view YouTube content.

The in-game browser workaround provides basic access to videos on the console but does not offer higher-resolution playback, stable loading or account features. Users who require sign-in access or higher-quality video will need to use a separate device or wait for an official app.
