Takafumi Noma announces PS5 RPG Dawngazer for 2028
Takafumi Noma and Monochrome Software announced Dawngazer, an action RPG due in 2028 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC; Good Smile Company will publish the first Ignisphere title.
Takafumi Noma, a Vanillaware veteran and director of Unicorn Overlord, and developer Monochrome Software announced Dawngazer, an action role-playing game scheduled for 2028 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Good Smile Company will publish the title. No Xbox version has been announced.
Monochrome appointed Noma as Dawngazer’s director. The studio credited his work on Unicorn Overlord, including contributions to story and character design, and intends for him to take a hands-on role in shaping Dawngazer’s narrative and characters.
Dawngazer is the first game in a new fantasy intellectual property called Ignisphere. Monochrome described Ignisphere as ‘an entirely original, expansive world woven together by numerous nations and races.’ The studio released a short teaser with the announcement and has opened an Ignisphere Twitter account for further updates.
Monochrome and Good Smile Company did not provide details on gameplay systems, a precise release date or pricing. Good Smile Company will handle the game’s release while Monochrome leads development.
Monochrome confirmed Ignisphere will extend beyond video games. Multiple novels are in development at Kadokawa and the studio plans merchandise such as collectible figures. Additional information about the novels and retail products will be announced at a later date.
Monochrome described Dawngazer and Ignisphere as a long-term project and indicated further announcements are planned as the team continues development of the first title.
