Tekken 8 Patch 3.01 Tones Down Heat, Adds Kunimitsu
Bandai Namco released Tekken 8 patch 3.01, cutting Heat regeneration, nerfing Heat attacks, adding DLC character Kunimitsu and online random rematch and side selection.
Bandai Namco released Tekken 8 patch 3.01, available now through standard updates. The update reduces Heat regeneration across the roster, applies nerfs to several Heat-specific attacks and adds returning DLC character Kunimitsu, along with online options for random rematch stage and random player-side selection.
Patch 3.01 removes or reduces the ability for characters to regain Heat through certain moves. Developers lowered damage or follow-up options on a number of Heat-only attacks so those moves remain usable but less likely to determine match flow. Players responded positively, noting the adjustments reduce extended defensive play where defenders were forced to hold position for long stretches.
The update follows a Season 3 overhaul released in March that retained many Season 2 changes and intensified some elements, drawing negative feedback. Bandai Namco apologized, announced a new update schedule and released patch 3.00.02 roughly a month after Season 3 to reverse several problematic alterations. Version 3.01 continues those fixes and targets the Heat system identified by many players.
Beyond balance changes, 3.01 adds Kunimitsu as a DLC character for players who purchase the content. Online matchmaking gained a random stage rematch option that selects a different stage on immediate rematch, and an option to randomize player side to help practice mirror matchups and tournament scenarios.
Patch notes indicate developers kept most Heat attacks but reduced their potency and adjusted interactions to create clearer windows of vulnerability and fewer guaranteed outcomes. The largest reductions applied to some of the most criticized Heat attacks, while other moves received more modest adjustments.
Community discussion continues around other balance topics, including high combo damage and extended combo length, which some players say may require future tuning. Bandai Namco will monitor feedback and issue further balance updates based on testing and player input.
