The Alters Complete Edition arrives on PS5 disc Nov. 20

11 Bit Studios will release The Alters Complete Edition on disc for PlayStation 5 on Nov. 20, 2026. The boxed release includes the full base game and the Last Variable DLC. Pre-orders are open through participating retailers.

Last Variable focuses on the Jan Scientist alter, who pursues research while managing survival needs on the planet. The DLC adds missions that explore Jan’s work and the choices he makes while maintaining a base.

A new trailer for the Complete Edition opens with Jan speaking to one of his Alters and alternates between cinematic sequences that reveal his past and gameplay footage. The trailer highlights exploration, base-building and investigative elements as players move through the alien environment and follow a central mystery.

The Alters is a science fiction survival-adventure about Jan Dolski, the sole survivor of a failed space expedition who creates alternative versions of himself to survive a hostile world. The game was developed in Unreal Engine 5 and first released digitally on June 13, 2025.

Tomasz Kisilewicz was the game director and writer, with Katarzyna Tybinka and Magda Gamrot contributing to the script. 11 Bit Studios developed and published the title; the studio previously released This War of Mine and Frostpunk.

The game received generally positive reviews for its narrative and mix of mechanics. The initial release drew criticism over the studio’s use of large language models in development. 11 Bit later stated: “AI-generated assets were used strictly as temporary WIPs during the development process.”

11 Bit positioned the Complete Edition as an option for players who want a physical copy with the Last Variable content included. The disc edition will be available for PlayStation 5 on Nov. 20, 2026; pre-orders are listed through participating retailers and should note that the package includes both the base game and Last Variable DLC.
