The Defiant coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Publisher 4Divinity and developer Hoothanes announced that The Defiant will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game was previously announced for PC. No release date or price has been provided.

The Defiant is a first-person shooter set in China during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). The developers describe the title as a historical FPS that emphasizes period combat and survival in front-line environments.

The game’s official description reads: “You’re stepping on the land irrigated with warm blood. Boundless snowy forest, heavily guarded lanes, dangerous villages behind the enemy lines… What you hold is not only a weapon, but also a memory passing through centuries, a proof of history. You can use dozens of guns in this game, including rifles, assault rifles, pistols and machine guns. The classic Hanyang Rifle, the legendary Mauser Military Pistol and MP18 Submachine Gun…”

Players will be able to use rifles, assault rifles, pistols and machine guns drawn from modern Chinese history. Announced weapons include the Hanyang Rifle, the Mauser Military Pistol and the MP18 submachine gun.

The announcement confirms PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions but does not include a release window, platform-specific details or pricing.

The Second Sino-Japanese War lasted from 1937 to 1945. In China it is commonly called the War of Resistance Against Japan and is often treated by historians as the start of World War II in Asia.
