The Escapists 3 brings prison breaks to 3D in 2027
Team17 announced The Escapists 3, a 3D entry in its prison-escape series. The game will be released for PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
Team17 announced The Escapists 3 during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase. The game retains the series’ top-down view while presenting its characters, prisons and objects in 3D.
Players will craft items, sneak past guards, fight and improvise while planning escapes. They will also speak with inmates, complete tasks and collect resources inside each facility.
The game will include five prisons, each with its own layout, guard routines and hidden areas. An XP system will let players gain new skills and tools. These abilities will carry over as players progress from one prison to the next.
The Escapists 3 will support split-screen and online co-op. Team17 also said the game will include more than 120 new weapons.
In a statement, Harley Homewood, general manager at Team17, described the game as a return to the series’ prison setting with “fully realized, 3D correctional facilities.”
The Escapists 3 is the first new mainline game in the series since The Escapists 2, which was released in 2017. Team17 has not announced a specific release date beyond 2027.
