Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will launch for PS5 and PS4 on Dec. 3, 2026. Preorders are available through the PlayStation Store.

The standard edition costs $29.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $34.99 and includes the game, an art-focused remaster diary, the soundtrack and a preview of a new Thief: The Dark Project novel.

Nightdive Studios is developing the remaster of the 1998 game originally created by Looking Glass Studios. The first-person stealth game focused on avoiding enemies instead of engaging them directly.

“Described by its developers as a ‘first-person sneaker,’ the 1998 title challenged norms with its non-confrontational gameplay,” the official description says.

The original game used light and sound as gameplay mechanics. Players could hide in darkness, monitor the noise they made and move carefully around characters instead of relying on combat.

The remaster will include “The Tarnished Mirror,” a story expansion with a short campaign set after the events of Thief: The Dark Project.
