Ticket to Ride: Poland Expansion arrives on Xbox May 13

Ticket to Ride: Poland Expansion arrives on Xbox Series X|S and One on May 13 with Country Coins, two locomotives, two carriages and two characters; Marmalade confirms Pennsylvania map.

Marmalade Game Studio will release the Ticket to Ride: Poland Expansion for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on May 13. The update adds a new Country Coins scoring mechanic, two locomotives, two carriages and two playable characters. The studio also confirmed a Pennsylvania map is in early development for future release on Xbox.

The Poland expansion replaces the physical version’s Country Cards with a digital Country Coins system. At match setup the game places small piles of coins on country nodes. When a player builds a connection between countries they take a coin from each node they connected, if coins remain. Collected coins are added to each player’s final score, creating a choice between extending routes to complete tickets or racing to collect coins before opponents.

Players receive two new locomotives, the Polonaise and the Copernicus, and two new carriages named Kujawiak and Orbiting Greatness. The expansion adds two characters: Regina Kamińska, a make-up artist, and Kacper Pawlak, an energetic drummer and student. Marmalade’s concept artist drew on 1950s Polish fashion and youth culture, including the influence of American styles and the growth of jazz, when designing characters and the map’s visual tone.

Poland is the tenth expansion included in Marmalade’s digital Round the World Ticket pack and is the fifth expansion to debut on digital platforms after Heart of Africa, Japan, San Francisco and Germany. Players who purchase the Ticket to Ride Deluxe Bundle or the Round the World Ticket receive access to all ten expansions in the pack, including Poland.

Mike Rosser, creative director at Marmalade, noted the team selected expansions to offer a range of play styles and pacing: “We aimed to have a good mix of expansions in the Round the World Ticket so that there are maps in there that appeal to all players.” He added the studio balanced more complex maps with simpler, faster ones.

Filipa Semedo, Marmalade’s concept and 2D artist, explained her research into 1950s Poland informed character design, citing Soviet-era modesty guidance and the arrival of American clothing sent by relatives abroad as visual references.

The Xbox edition supports online matchmaking, asynchronous play, local couch multiplayer and single-player matches powered by adaptive AI. Marmalade previously converted multiple expansions for digital play, including a full digital rendition of the Germany expansion that includes its Passenger mechanic. The studio encouraged players to join its Discord server to organize matches, follow updates and take part in events tied to the Xbox release and upcoming content.

Ticket to Ride: Poland will be available on the Xbox Marketplace starting May 13.
