TMNT: The Last Ronin returns to PS5 with PlatinumGames
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin returns to PS5 with PlatinumGames developing after the THQ Nordic/Black Forest Games version was canceled.
Paramount Games Studio has relaunched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin for PlayStation 5 and named PlatinumGames as the developer. The version that was being developed by Black Forest Games for THQ Nordic is no longer in development.
Paramount presented the project as a dark, mature AAA take on the comic series. PlatinumGames, the studio behind Nier: Automata, will lead development on the PS5 action-adventure title.
Black Forest Games reduced staff in January 2024, a change that coincided with the cancellation of the THQ Nordic-backed project. Paramount did not specify when development shifted to PlatinumGames or whether work from the earlier version will be reused.
No release window has been announced. Paramount released a short teaser that includes only brief footage and did not provide gameplay details or platform performance information beyond the PS5 listing.
Paramount has not released details on game mechanics, multiplayer options, or plans for other platforms. The studio provided a synopsis: the game follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle on a mission for vengeance.
Key development milestones, a timeline for production, and a launch date remain unannounced.
