Toby Fox to release Deltarune Chapter 5 free June 24

Toby Fox will release Deltarune Chapter 5 on June 24. Players who own the game can download it free; Fox withheld major trailer moments to preserve surprises.

Toby Fox, creator of Deltarune, will release Chapter 5 on June 24. Players who already own earlier chapters will be able to download and play the new chapter at no cost.

Fox said he kept the trailer deliberately sparse to avoid revealing key moments. “I want to surprise people playing the Chapter for the first time, so I avoided showing the most exciting moments,” he wrote, calling the approach the opposite of common trailer practice.

He offered a brief tonal hint linked to Chapter 4. “In Chapter 4, we saw dark clouds on the horizon. That’s why, let’s not look there for now. Let’s turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely. Let’s smile again. Let’s have one more fun adventure, okay?” Fox used that phrasing to indicate a lighter mood for the next entry.

Chapter 5 will be available as a full download at launch for existing owners. Players should confirm they own the earlier parts of Deltarune and check their platform on June 24 for the update.

Fox also provided a development update beyond Chapter 5. Work on Chapter 6 is ongoing, and some team members may begin work on Chapter 7 before the end of the year. He cautioned that internal movement toward later chapters does not guarantee a Chapter 6 release in 2026.

Deltarune is released in episodic chapters. Fox has limited promotional footage for new entries to preserve key moments for players at launch.
