Top 10 Xbox Demo Fest Demos Led by Active Matter

Two weeks into Xbox Demo Fest, Xbox Store rankings show Active Matter leading the Festival’s most-popular demos among more than 40 free titles on Xbox and PC.

Two weeks after Xbox Demo Fest began on June 4, the Xbox Store’s default “most popular” sort shows the top Demo Fest demos by player interest. The Festival collection includes more than 40 free demos available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC where supported. Demo Fest runs through at least June 30.

The store’s overall demo chart can include titles that are not part of the Festival; one non-Demo Fest release ranks highest on the overall demo list while not appearing in the Demo Fest lineup. New Festival entries are marked with a “New” tag in the store.

Active Matter tops the Demo Fest list. The demo places players in the role of an operative trapped in a time loop who enters quantum-unstable zones to harvest “active matter,” fights rivals from other timelines and navigates physics-breaking anomalies.

Order Automatica is a dark roguelike auto-battler played on a 3×3 ritual grid. Players position units, combine cursed relics and aim for synergies before each run ends.

Wrap House Simulator is a cooperative management game in which players run a wrap shop, preparing skewers, sauces and customer orders while responding to shifting service challenges.

Carry The Glass is a two-player cooperative platformer that requires teammates to carry a fragile window through obstacle-filled levels without breaking it.

Dodo Duckie is a puzzle-platformer that lets players switch between 2D and 3D perspectives using a magical cap while guiding a duck through stages to rescue its kidnapped friends.

Salvation: Echoes of War places players in a surreal third-person purgatory as a war pilot navigating nightmares. The demo focuses on stealth, puzzle-solving and non-aggressive combat.

Akatori is a metroidvania starring Mako, a teenage protagonist who explores interconnected worlds corrupted by the Amber Storms.

Charlatan combines roguelike mechanics with a slot-machine core. Players rig reels and build synergies to survive and escape a cursed amusement park.

Moonbrella is a 2D metroidvania that emphasizes movement without a jump button and centers on upgrading an umbrella to explore an abandoned planet.

Faeland closes the top ten with pixel-art action, character customization, varied weapons and a fantasy story about survival and an unwilling hero.

All Festival demos are free to download from the Xbox Store until at least June 30. Xbox has indicated the company may run another Demo Fest later in the year.
