Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon HD Remaster Arrives on PS5
Square Enix released an HD remaster of Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon on the PlayStation Store for PS5, priced at $24.99, with an English edition available after 33 years.
Square Enix has released an HD remaster of the Dragon Quest spin-off Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon on the PlayStation Store for PS5. The title is priced at $24.99 and marks the first English PlayStation release of the game in 33 years.
The remaster updates the original with Classic HD visuals and a storybook-style presentation illustrated by Naoki Ikushima. A new launch trailer reintroduces Torneko, the merchant character from Dragon Quest IV, and highlights the game’s core loop.
Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon is a roguelike where players explore randomly generated dungeons in search of treasure. Layouts, enemy encounters and item placements change on each run. Combat is turn-based; characters gain experience and levels by defeating foes, and players collect equipment and items to push deeper into dungeons.
If a player is defeated during an expedition, collected items are lost and the run restarts from the beginning. The remaster retains adjustable difficulty options that reflect the original game’s challenge and allows players to change the level of challenge to their preference.
Square Enix describes the updated release as refreshed for current consoles and designed for repeated playthroughs. The PS5 edition joins launches on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC, bringing the decades-old Dragon Quest side story to multiple modern platforms.
The PlayStation Store listing shows the title is available now for PS5 at the stated price.
