Trover Saves the Universe Pulled From PlayStation Store

Trover Saves the Universe, a 2019 PS4 action game from Squanch Games, was removed from the PlayStation Store and other digital storefronts this week without prior notice.

Squanch Games’ 2019 PS4 action platformer Trover Saves the Universe was removed from the PlayStation Store and other digital storefronts this week, leaving the title unavailable for digital purchase. The developer and publisher did not provide advance notice or a reason for the removal.

The delisting affects the PS4 version and the game has been removed from multiple online stores. Physical PS4 copies remain available from retailers such as Amazon. Players discovered the removal while attempting to buy the game and posted frustrated reactions online.

Trover Saves the Universe launched in 2019 and combined combat, platforming and puzzles. The game included a mode for PSVR and featured voice work by Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty. The PS4 version holds a Metacritic score of 76 out of 100.

“Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe,” the game’s description reads. “You’re partnered with Trover, a little purple eye-hole monster who isn’t a huge fan of working or being put in the position of having to save the universe. Only you and Trover can save everything in this bizarre comedy adventure filled with combat, platforming, puzzles, and morally questionable choices.”

Squanch Games has not issued a public statement explaining the delisting or whether the game will return to digital storefronts. For now, collectors and new players seeking legal copies must rely on remaining physical stock.
