Ubisoft reveals Rayman Origins PS3 remake gameplay trailer

Ubisoft released a new gameplay trailer for Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, the PlayStation 3 remake of the 2011 platformer. The trailer includes extended gameplay sequences and updated cutscenes to show visual and performance changes.

The footage highlights the 2D platforming running at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, refreshed animations, new collectible items and haptic feedback for compatible controllers. Ubisoft said the Enhanced Edition adds a range of quality-of-life features, though the trailer did not list every change.

Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition will not be sold separately. It will be included with every edition of Rayman Legends Retold, a reimagining of the 2013 game that Ubisoft describes as featuring enhanced 3D visuals, a new story and fully voiced cinematics following Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus and Murphy as they face a new antagonist.

Rayman Legends Retold’s standard edition is priced at $39.99 and is available for pre-order. All pre-orders include the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, which adds two costumes for Rayman and Globox inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

Ubisoft is offering a digital-only Deluxe Edition that bundles the base game, Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition and a Retro Pack with four additional costumes plus an art gallery. A retail-only Launch Edition includes the base game, the Origins remake, a printed Glade of Dreams map, three lithographs and a slipcase. A digital Deluxe Upgrade Pack provides the Retro Pack and the art gallery.

Ubisoft announced the Origins remake last month and said the updates aim to preserve the original level design and platforming while updating presentation and input features to current standards.

Rayman Origins originally launched in 2011 and was noted for its hand-drawn art and cooperative platforming. Rayman Legends, released in 2013, expanded the series’ levels and mechanics. The new bundle pairs the updated 2D experience of Origins with the reimagined Legends title.
