Until Dawn 2 sets PS5 release for Jan. 28, 2027

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Firesprite announced Until Dawn 2 will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on Jan. 28, 2027. Pre-orders open Sept. 10, 2026. The title follows the original Until Dawn, released more than a decade earlier by Supermassive Games.

A new trailer shows the Dead True investigative team filming at Blackwood Sanitorium while covering events from 12 years earlier. The footage introduces a new intern, Izzy, who discovers something that alters the crew’s plans. The team meets Yuna at HorrorCon in Sydney; she is presented as a survivor of a violent, apparently supernatural attack and reveals a dark scar that prompts the group to travel to Akishima, a remote island in the South Pacific.

The game’s official description reads: “Ready to die for likes? Join a team of ambitious ghost hunters as they chase their next viral hit on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of demons and ghostly phenomena.” The trailer emphasizes a media-focused investigation and indicates social media attention will factor into the plot.

Gameplay appears to center on timed choices with immediate consequences for characters. The trailer shows sequences in which characters must decide quickly or face fatal outcomes. One scene depicts Dead True co-host Mina being pressured to carry out a live ritual animal sacrifice on camera, illustrating the kind of on-the-spot moral choices players may encounter.

Dr. Hill from the original game returns alongside several new characters. Firesprite is handling development and Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher. The game will be available only on PlayStation 5 when it releases on Jan. 28, 2027, with pre-orders beginning Sept. 10, 2026.
