Valheim exits early access, PS5 launch Sept. 9 with Deep North
Valheim exits five-year early access and releases 1.0 on PS5 on Sept. 9, 2026, adding the Deep North biome and delivering the same base version as on PC.
Valheim will exit early access and release its full 1.0 version on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 9, 2026, the studio announced. The PS5 edition includes the new Deep North biome and the same base game version available on PC.
The 1.0 update was developed during a five-year early access period and expands the game world with the Deep North area, which the development team described as the conclusion to the game’s adventure. The update incorporates content and refinements added over the early access cycle.
On PC the game is priced at £15.49 and $19.99; the PS5 edition is expected to carry a similar price when it launches on Sept. 9.
Robin Eyre, the game’s creative director, commented, “Approaching 1.0 feels equal parts exciting and anxious as we’ve worked hard to make Deep North a worthy conclusion to the Valheim journey!”
Valheim’s PS5 release joins a crowded September schedule. Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled for Sept. 15, six days after Valheim’s console debut.
The studio noted development choices for Deep North were influenced by feedback from Valheim’s player community during early access. The PS5 release will provide console players with the finished base game and the new Deep North biome.
