Valve Raises Steam Deck OLED Prices; ROG Xbox Ally Now Cheaper

Valve raised Steam Deck OLED prices: 512GB up $240/£170 to $789/£649; 1TB up $300/£210 to $949/£779. Discounted ROG Xbox Ally listings are now cheaper in some markets.

Valve raised prices for its Steam Deck OLED handhelds this week. The 512GB model increased by $240/£170 to $789/£649, and the 1TB model rose by $300/£210 to $949/£779.

The company updated retail listings on its online store and authorized channels. Valve has not provided a detailed public explanation for the price changes.

The larger capacity models received the biggest increases. The new U.S. and U.K. prices are higher than the devices’ earlier retail tags when the Steam Deck line first launched.

Retailers in the U.K. have recently offered the base ROG Xbox Ally for under £340 new, with refurbished or open-box units as low as about £270. The higher-spec Ally X commonly appears near £850, including some discounted or refurbished listings.

Those retailer and reseller prices place some Ally listings below or close to the new Steam Deck OLED prices for certain regions and configurations. Secondary-market inventory and discounts have lowered effective street prices for competing handheld PCs.

Both the Steam Deck OLED and the ROG Xbox Ally aim to deliver portable PC gaming with integrated controllers. Current retail and reseller listings show a range of effective prices depending on region, retailer and whether a unit is new, discounted or refurbished.
