Village in the Shade trailer reveals Oct. 27, 2026 release
NIS America released a trailer for Village in the Shade and confirmed an Oct. 27, 2026 launch on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
NIS America released a new trailer for Village in the Shade and confirmed the game will launch on October 27, 2026, on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The title was previously released in Japan; NIS America will publish the Western release.
The trailer frames the game as a calm farming simulator by day that turns threatening at night. Daytime scenes show planting, tending a homestead and talking with villagers. Nighttime scenes show spirits roaming the streets, a fox appearing in several shots, and sections built around escape and evasion from hostile entities.
Players explore Kagatsu, a mountain village in Japan, where an in-story rule forbids leaving the village or venturing out after dark. Several villagers appear to be hiding secrets, and the game lets players decide whether to investigate those mysteries. For players who prefer less horror, a “Village in the Sunshine” mode reduces or removes scary elements.
Nippon Ichi Software said many art assets were hand-painted by the development team. The publisher reported the game has sold more than 150,000 copies in Japan. On Steam the title holds a “Very Positive” rating based on 258 user reviews.
NIS America is offering a limited edition for pre-order through its online store priced at $89.99. The package includes a collector’s copy of the game, an art book, a collector’s box, the original soundtrack, an acrylic display block and a set of metal pins.
Village in the Shade will release in Western markets on October 27, 2026, on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
