Virtuos aims to port GTA V, RDR2 to Switch 2
Virtuos says it is eager to port Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 to Nintendo’s next console, though neither title is officially announced for the Switch 2.
In a recent interview, porting studio Virtuos expressed interest in adapting Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 for Nintendo’s next console. Neither title has been officially announced for the Switch 2.
The interview referenced the current Nintendo Switch, but Virtuos’ remarks were interpreted as referring to a more powerful successor console. The studio suggested a stronger Switch 2 would make technical ports less demanding than the existing hardware.
Virtuos did not provide a development timeline, release window or confirm any partnership with Rockstar Games. The company framed its comments as expressions of interest rather than confirmed projects.
Fong, a Virtuos representative, commented that the team is eager to adapt Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Nintendo Switch and described the studio’s staff as fans who believe the games can reach more players on Nintendo hardware.
Some players have requested a 60-frames-per-second update for Red Dead Redemption 2 before any potential port to Nintendo hardware.
Until Rockstar Games or Nintendo announce plans, there is no confirmation of a Switch 2 release or any development deals involving Virtuos.
