2014 mech shooter War Robots launches free PS4 port

War Robots, the 2014 multiplayer mech shooter from My.Games, quietly launched as a free PS4 download on the PlayStation Store, playable on PS5 worldwide and not requiring PS Plus.

War Robots, the 2014 multiplayer mech shooter from My.Games, has quietly arrived on the PlayStation Store as a free PS4 download. The title is available in all regions, runs on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility and does not require a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The game originally launched on mobile more than a decade ago. A newer entry, War Robots: Frontiers, is already available as a native release on PS5 and PS4. My.Games has not provided a reason for adding the original 2014 version to the PlayStation Store.

War Robots is a player-versus-player shooter focused on combat between customizable giant robots. The game offers more than 50 robots that players can upgrade and outfit, and multiple modes where teams fight to destroy opponents or capture objectives.

The PlayStation Store’s official description reads: “Join global worldwide PvP battles, spring ambushes, outmaneuver opponents, and turn the tide with smart positioning.”

The PlayStation release includes ten trophies: seven Bronze, one Silver and two Gold; there is no Platinum trophy. Early responses on the store give the title about a 4.15 out of 5-star rating at the time of writing.

The PS4 port can be downloaded now from the PlayStation Store and launched on PlayStation 5 systems through compatibility.
