Warhorse Studios Developing Open-World Middle-earth RPG
Warhorse Studios announced on social media it is developing an open-world Middle-earth RPG and confirmed a new Kingdom Come Deliverance title; no release or platform details were given.
Warhorse Studios, the Czech developer behind Kingdom Come Deliverance, posted on its social channels that it is working on an open-world Middle-earth RPG and a separate new Kingdom Come Deliverance project. The studio did not provide release windows, platforms, publishers or technical details in the announcement.
The social post addressed earlier rumours and included the line: ‘You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on.’ The message also stated that further information will be shared ‘when the time is right.’
Warhorse did not specify whether the Middle-earth title will be single-player or multiplayer, which version of Tolkien’s setting it will use, or which development partners or licensors are involved. The company also did not indicate whether either project is in concept, full production or nearing completion.
Warhorse is best known for Kingdom Come Deliverance, a historically grounded role-playing game set in medieval Bohemia. In 2024 the studio released a Nintendo Switch port of the original Kingdom Come Deliverance handled by Saber Interactive; that port required technical compromises to run on the hardware. A sequel to Kingdom Come Deliverance exists but is not currently available on Nintendo systems.
Observers and fans will await a formal press release or further social updates from Warhorse for confirmation of licensing, development teams, release windows and platform plans.
