Wax Heads launches on PS5 for $14.99; PS Plus members get a 15% launch discount, lowering the price to $12.74.
Wax Heads released on PS5 today at a $14.99 price point. The game was developed by two-person studio Patattie Games and published by Curve Digital. PS Plus members receive a 15% launch discount that reduces the price to $12.74, and PS Plus Premium subscribers can stream the game via cloud play.
The game is available on the PlayStation Store and on Steam. The release includes a handcrafted record collection and an original soundtrack. Curve Digital also published a trailer to mark the launch. Earlier this month, developer Patattie Games announced Wax Heads added language support, dyslexia-friendly fonts, skippable minigames, simplified input options and adaptive controller compatibility.
Players assume the role of an employee at a struggling record store. Gameplay centers on helping undecided customers find records, holding music debates with colleagues and making narrative choices that affect the shop’s atmosphere and interactions.
Curve Digital’s overview of the game reads: “Lose yourself in an emotional, uplifting narrative about community, musical mysteries, and underdog spirit. Help endearing and indecisive customers find their perfect records while debating all things music with your loveable colleagues.”
Early reception has been positive. The title holds an average score of 85 out of 100 on Metacritic and 86 out of 100 on OpenCritic. Storefront feedback shows a 4.88 out of 5 user rating on the PlayStation Store and a “Positive” tag on Steam.
The PS Plus launch discount applies during the promotional window at release and reduces the sticker price for subscribers to $12.74. Patattie Games developed Wax Heads as a small-team project focused on a narrative centered on community and music.
