Witcher 3 Remastered patch notes detail PS5 Pro upgrades

Patch notes confirm PS5 Pro support, multithreaded PS5 rendering, visual upgrades and a new skill tree ahead of The Witcher 3 Remastered’s Sept. 29, 2026 release.

CD Projekt Red’s patch notes for The Witcher 3 Remastered confirm PlayStation 5 Pro support, multithreaded rendering on PS5 and a range of visual and gameplay changes ahead of the remaster’s September 29, 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The remaster was announced at Gamescom and the notes were published after that event.

The notes list multithreaded rendering on PS5 to improve performance and specific support for PS5 Pro hardware. Visual changes include improved lighting and shading for grass and foliage and higher-quality motion blur intended for a more cinematic look. The patch notes group changes into technical performance, visuals and gameplay systems.

Gameplay changes replace the original skill-point system with a skill tree. Each skill now has three ranks and requires prerequisite skills to unlock. Several skills have been renamed to match their effects. Equipment can be reforged to change appearance without altering stats, and new appearances unlock when players add equipment and crafting diagrams to their inventory.

Combat updates focus on non-boss monsters, with refined attack patterns, counterattacks, movement, reactions, flight behavior and status-effect application. Target-lock switching has been improved when the player moves the camera. Mounting and dismounting animations for Geralt’s horse Roach have been updated for smoother transitions during travel and combat.

User interface updates include a time-lapse sequence for meditation instead of a static UI screen and a redesigned map screen intended to make switching between tracked quests easier. Players can hide herbs, boats and corpses on the minimap via Settings → Video → Interface. A new Accessibility section appears in Settings and a Bard’s Ballad preset is included.

Photo Mode gains the ability to place multiple characters in a single shot, a larger selection of poses and expressions for Geralt and placeable characters, and a camera-lock option to keep consistent framing. The patch notes present these items as the planned changes for the remaster’s launch across the listed platforms on Sept. 29, 2026.
