Xbox adds 28 Default Game Profiles for ROG Xbox Ally
Xbox added 28 Default Game Profiles to the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, deploying per-game TDP and FPS limits via the Xbox PC app to optimize battery and performance.
Microsoft added 28 Default Game Profiles to the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, delivering per-game Thermal Design Power (TDP) and frames-per-second (FPS) limits through the Xbox PC app. The profiles are distributed via an Xbox service and applied by ASUS software preinstalled on the handhelds.
Default Game Profiles were first introduced in November 2025 for about 40 games. The profiles set device-level TDP ceilings and FPS caps so the handheld can sustain performance while reducing power draw in battery mode. Some titles cannot change those device settings from their in-game menus.
High-profile additions include Starfield, Grand Theft Auto V and Forza Horizon 6. Other titles in the update include Borderlands 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3, Hades 2, Resident Evil 2, Skyrim and The Outer Worlds 2. Invincible VS and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are supported on the Ally X but not on the original Ally; the remaining games support both devices.
The profiles apply only to games purchased or launched through the Xbox Store on PC and managed by the Xbox PC app. They will not apply to copies run from other storefronts such as Steam. Players can disable Default Game Profiles and set TDP, FPS limits and other device settings manually using ASUS’s interface on the handheld.
According to the announcement, “Default Game Profiles make games run better when on battery by setting Thermal Design Power (TDP) limits and framerate (FPS) limits to balance performance and battery life that go beyond what titles can achieve via in-game settings alone.” Microsoft indicated more titles will be added to the Default Game Profiles roster later in 2026.
