Xbox’s Asha Sharma: ‘Sweat every detail’ to win back players
Sharma told employees players are ‘frustrated’ and Xbox must ‘sweat every single detail’ to fix console and PC fundamentals and bring players back.
Xbox head Asha Sharma told employees at a recent internal meeting that players are “frustrated” and the company must “sweat every single detail” to repair its console and PC offerings and bring players back.
Sharma said players feel Xbox has not updated its console enough and that the platform’s PC presence “isn’t very strong.” She framed the task as restoring the company’s core work on hardware and software to make the experience simpler and more fun.
She outlined a four-part focus: hardware, content, experience and services. The aim is to improve consoles, strengthen game lineups, smooth user interactions and expand platform services. Sharma noted Xbox already has strong games and a capable platform but said the organization must execute better to increase player engagement.
On player retention, Sharma emphasized the goal of encouraging players to return “every single day.” She described the immediate priority as fixing fundamentals on both console and PC so improvements to gameplay and access happen faster.
Company sources say Sharma is evaluating a range of options for Xbox exclusive games but has not set a new exclusivity policy. She has urged caution and indicated the company will consider multiple possibilities before making any commitments on exclusives.
The remarks follow a public statement from Xbox leadership that also highlighted the need to repair core systems and improve player-facing offerings. Internal reviews and strategic discussions are continuing as the company weighs hardware updates, content roadmaps and service changes.
Sharma’s comments set a short-term focus on tightening platform fundamentals. The company plans to prioritize concrete fixes to consoles and PC platforms while broader strategy decisions remain under review.
